For the last four years crisis marked the organization through which we receive our visas. The story is far too complex to share; very shortly six people in the organization have been consistently denied a very important clearance through a powerful government agency. The situation had profound ramifications not only for Marjorie and me, but for the entire mission.Had this miracle not taken place being forced out of Bangladesh was a real possibility. One month ago God suddenly and completely resolved the situation! We ourselves are continuing to understand the extent of the miracle performed for this to happen. Not only did God move miraculously on our behalf Marjorie and I feel God has also reconfirmed our call to live in Bangladesh.
Although we have climbed this Mount Everest we still have another big mountain to go.We must still go through the next arduous step of obtaining a new visa this year. We appreciate your prayers for a new 5 year visa for Bangladesh. It is a lengthy process for sure and I won’t bore you with details. The application process has begun, but we probably will not be able to apply for the new visa until August.I will keep you informed so you can pray with us.
Transition/Change
With another 5 year commitment to live in Bangladesh we evaluated ourselves as well. We are struggling to understand what we are transiting to as a family and ministry. As our children gain independence our lives change greatly.I have turned over the leadership of Saydabad Mercy. The question is what are Marjorie and I transitioning too?Answer: We are not entirely sure.We do know God is leading us somewhere new.Marjorie is asking God, “What do I do with my time without having three high school students to homeschool?”In the fear of the Lord we have begun work on a ten year plan on two fronts:on the outward ministry side focusing on reaching every poor person in the Rangpur Division, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, on the inward ministry side working in the area of leadership development. These plans are big and broad and have very few specifics. As we have prayed and discussed the changes we have become very aware of our need for a deeper relationship with the Father. We ask for your prayers for us at this time. Not only that God would define our future, but also that He would be able to make all the changes in us that He wants.
Saydabad Mercy
The support we have received over the years for the Saydabad Mercy has been awesome. We have ALWAYS had enough and we are so grateful. Our community continues to grow.In addition to increasing geographically the community is also expanding topographically with many 2nd story homes being built.(see picture)As the community grows the number of patients we see also grows. We also see the number of severely malnourished children on the feeding program needs to increase as well.In the last six months project expenses have gone beyond the gifts we receive for the project. We face a short-fall of $200 per month. We are looking for 4 families who would support the Saydabad Mercy project $50 per month.I want to ask you pray about partnering with us financially.
In addition to ministry expenses one of the Saydabad Mercy staff is in financial crisis right now.Asish Biswas and his family need to receive an additional $30 per month minimum starting this month. We want to stand with them for this amount.Would you please pray about being the answer to the Biswas family’s financial need.
If you feel you are to be the answer to one or both of the above needs drop me a short email and I will let you know how to send the money to the project and/or staff.
We want to close this newsletter by letting you know you are the greatest of supporters. We feel your love, prayers and support for what God has given us to do.Thank you for your partnership with us.May your reward be much greater than you thought possible.
