6 Feb 10 Dear Friends,
Last night I received a picture of Marjorie, Isaac and myself taken 18 years ago. I laughed as I thought of who I was at that time. Then in my prayer time this morning as I thought about myself and all my limitations I wondered how can I ask for the Nations. God's reply was immediate. "How can you NOT ask for the nations? You ask for the nations because I have told you, 'Ask of Me.'" So here I stand -- asking.
Join with us as we ask
Marjorie and I feel the need for more intercessors. We know many of you pray for us. Thank you! We are, however, looking for more intercessors. We need intercessors to pray for us personally, but we also need another group to pray for the projects and people that are our passion. If you would like to join one or both of these groups please let me know and I will send a very short weekly communication to you.
Our main prayer request now is new visas for Bangladesh. In a few months our current visa finishes. We are preparing to submit a new five your plan to the government. This preparation has given us good prayer fodder and helped us understand what God wants us to accomplish in the coming five years.
The New Rangpur Division
At a Christmas party I asked someone how their job was going. As he described the project he made a startling statement. He said, "As far as we know there are only four Christians in the district; ourselves and one other couple." The population of Gaibandha District is four million people. Tears filled my eyes as I thought of this very impoverished district with so little light. Lord, send us to Gaibandha District!
The Bangladesh government announced the new Rangpur Division, which includes Gaibandha district, just a few days ago. I know God is speaking to me and YWAM. Now is the time for us to reach out to this new Division. We have no YWAM presence in this division. Lord, send us to Rangpur Division!
The 25/50 Celebration
From February 14th to the 20th YWAM Bangladesh celebrates YWAMs 50th anniversary. Fifty years ago Loren Cunningham started an organization with the very dubious idea that young people from every nation could be used by God to preach the Gospel. Twenty-five years ago a young man from Western Samoan arrived alone in Bangladesh. His mission, even more dubious than the idea of YWAM in general, was to start YWAM Bangladesh.
After 25 years God has put it on our hearts to celebrate the past 25/50 years in Jubilee fashion. But He has made it clear we are to celebrate our past with the future in mind.
At the end of Joshua's life he gathered the people of Israel to challenge them to continue on with their journey with God. One of his challenges was, "There is still much land to be taken." As we celebrate 25 years in Bangladesh I also feel like Joshua surveying the land and saying, "There is still much land to be taken." With the Lord’s help we will be like Caleb full of passion and zeal, taking mountains for God!
May the Lord bless you,
David for all
