Dear partners and friends,
This is a quick note to report I made it safely back from Indonesia. It was just remarkable to see God orchestrate meetings with people that I needed to see. I would have never been able to find some of them, but they came to me…they found me. Having been on the ground just days after the Indian Ocean tsunami that hit December 26, 2004, I cannot explain the feelings I have when I see the city full of shops and people and cars and motorcycles. Recovery has happened, though some of the local people still mourn for those who died.
The day before I left for Indonesia, the pin was removed from my left thumb and off I went hoping at some point to be able to play my guitar. Yes, about a week into the trip I began to play and little by little the healing continues! It was a joy to provide times of worship and refreshing for long term workers who continue to pour their lives out with great intention. We also had deep spiritual conversations with several with whom we have shared the Gospel clearly. There is movement.
While I was on the trip, several things began to stir. I already had made a commitment to lead the worship for a conference in Albania late October. Then I had a conversation with the man who has an organization in Pakistan that I partnered with last August after the massive floods. He asked me to come and pray for a week because it seems that the villages where I prayed had given his organization great favor. Then I had a conversation with a friend who has spent a good deal of time in Afghanistan interested in introducing me to partners on the ground there. So, it seemed to me that God was putting something together.
Today I booked part of the trip and the other part is on hold for 24 hours. I will travel from Houston to Albania to Pakistan to Afghanistan beginning on October 22nd and arrive home on November 23rd. I cannot give you more details than that except for the total price…$2,954.75. I’ll need to get visas Pakistan and Afghanistan that are $120 and $100 respectively. I really believe this is God’s time. Let me add that the Global Prayer Digest will focus on these two regions during the month of November. You can find it atwww.globalprayerdigest.orgIt will be very strategic to be on the ground in the area where thousands and maybe millions will be praying for God’s revelation of Jesus into formerly hostile hearts. I need your help. I dare not go without a significant prayer cover! I’m pretty confidant God will provide financially because His economy is just fine. I sat in a meeting last weekend with a room of spiritual partners and each one shared about how their financial support is down and how they are struggling. I just so feel that we have got to begin to understand God’s economy. If you want to partner in this crazy trip, you can absolutely join Him in His provision!
I’m happy to be sleeping in my own bed and happy to be catching up with friends and partners. I continue to work out and try to be fit for all the God has for me to do and be.In light of recent earthquakes in Colorado and Virginia and Hurricane Irene just almost making landfall, I do believe God is telling us to prepare! I’m listening; are you?
ICM was birthed in prayer with a vision to participate in the Great Commission by partnering local churches and mission groups to evangelize and make disciples of all nations. The ministry of ICM strengthens the work and the hands of the national pastors, providing training materials that will empower leaders to disciple their own people. This type of study program, known as Church Planting Institute (CPI), has proven very successful and ICM has training materials that have been translated into more than 20 languages.
Kyle Ford and his wife Irina minister to students in Moscow and run summer language camps in Eastern Europe where students gather to learn English, have fun and learn about the Gospel from Christian teachers and volunteers. They believe that their purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission in the power of the Holy Spirit by winning people to faith in Jesus Christ, building them in their faith and sending them to win and build others; and helping the Body of Christ do evangelism and discipleship. Their vision is to build spiritual movements everywhere so everyone know someone who truly follows Jesus Christ.
I hope this newsletter finds you in God’s grace and peace! It’s been quite a while since my last update so there is quite a bit to cover! So I’ll get right to it! I was able to go to Brazil this summer and I have never been so blessed while there. We worked in the city of Boca da Mata (Mouth of the Jungle) our first week and God really has been moving in that city! He connected me quite closely with the young adults and teenagers in the city. We had awesome times of prayer and worship and studying of God’s Word together. They are all on such fire for God and truly believe that He is going to use them to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel. This city is so poor and yet they understand their role in the Great Commission. It was so humbling to be a part of their group. Before leaving a friend from Boca da Mata told me, “Holli, you have gained great friends here during your stay, but the most valuable thing you have received is intercessors for your ministry.” Needless to say I was quite blessed by them! We had two prayer vigils while I was there and the Holy Spirit came in such power and used some of them to prophecy over me. God continues to confirm my calling to mobilize students to China! To Him be the glory! We stayed in Brazil for 15 days and saw many Brazilians come to know Jesus. Including one of the boys that has been working with us over the past 7 years! It’s always such a pleasure to partner with God in what He is doing!
Training camp this year was probably the most fantastic camp we’ve had in our six years of existence. Our 16 new missionaries arrived on August 9th and we hit the ground running! They came from all over New York, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Illinois. At the beginning of training camp as a whole our new ones needed to raise $86,000, by the end of it we had a surplus of $8,000. How good/faithful is our God?!? Not one person had to stay back, they were all able to board the plane! Three days before they left for China we as Campus Target gathered around to have a night of prayer for the ones that still needed quite a bit of money to go. As we prayed, God began to do so many miracles! Then we took some time to pray and ask God what He would have us do, what He would have us give so that our friends could go to China. It’s kind of funny to think about because every single person, from top to bottom, is living by faith in Campus Target. Not one of us has a “real world job”. We are all missionaries that are supported by awesome individuals and churches. As we were praying God put Acts 2:44-47 on my heart, “All who believed were together and held everything in common, and they began selling their property and possessions and distributing the proceeds to everyone, as anyone had need. Every day they continued to gather together by common consent in the temple courts, breaking bread from house to house, sharing their food with glad and humble hearts, praising God and having the good will of all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number every day those who were being saved.” What excited me the most was the last part, “and the Lord was adding to their number every day those who were being saved.” I knew that as we gave and shared things in common that the Lord was going to bless the work in China. That the number of Chinese brothers and sisters would increase! I say this not in a boastful way, but all for the glory of God. That night in a room of no more than 30 people $18,000 was given so that more laborers could go to China, so that more lost people could have the chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I am continually humbled to work with Campus Target. One night during one of night sessions I became incredibly overwhelmed that God has allowed me to be a part of Campus Target for four years and now starting my fifth year. I also became overwhelmed by the fact the God used me to recruit these new amazing missionaries. Have you ever just stopped and thought about the different ways God has used you for His Kingdom? It’s so humbling. I do not deserve to be serving Him, but so grateful that I am. I am excited to say that this year I am taking on the position of the Director of Recruiting for Campus Target. Last year I was co-laboring in the leadership position with my friend Jacob Milea. It was an awesome year of ministry. Him and his wife are moving back to Syracuse to be the young adult pastors at their church. I am so grateful for all that we were able to do together for God’s kingdom and am excited for them as they start their new jobs. Please pray for me as I step into this role. I am excited, but a little nervous. Please pray that we will go where the Lord is preparing laborers for us!

Dear Prayer Supporters,
Well it was not until last Thursday that I allowed myself to say I was sick. Almost as soon as I asked for prayer I started feeling better. I hope I learned my lesson and ask for prayer sooner next time. Despite struggling with my energy levels it was a good week with several good times of prayer. I feel organized which is very important for me.
I will go to Saydabad tomorrow and see how the team is doing. I haven’t visited in over two months. Wednesday I will have lunch with the ministry leader of YWAM Khagrachhari where I hope to do a primary health care seminar this year. We will see what can be worked out. Of course, I still have quite a bit of office work to be completed after all the meetings I was in too. I would appreciate your prayers for all these happenings.
I would also request your prayers for the on-going disaster relief response from our Nepali YWAMers. Below is an up-date from Nar the MM coordinator forNepal. Please pray for Dipendra as he leads this response.
Finally, I really want to thank you who so faithfully support us financially. Thank you for your generosity and tenderness towards the poor. May God give back to you 30, 60 even 100 fold what you are sowing into His Kingdom.
From its conception, Feed The Hungry has focused on bringing help to those in need both physically and spiritually. They do more than just feed empty bellies. Because they work exclusively through local churches and ministries, each distribution also provides an opportunity to touch the spirit and soul of those in need through prayer, encouragement, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Wherever and whenever possible they also distribute Bibles to those receiving family food packs. Physical food is temporal, but the Bread of Life can change a life for eternity.

Garlock Ministries was incorporated on September 8, 1986 in Dallas, Texas, to carry out the vision of John and Ruthanne Garlock to help fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Our primary goal in this mission has been to “make disciples” by teaching ministers-in-training to effectively share the Gospel in their own communities, and then to train other disciples within those communities.
Our special interest has been to assist with training leaders in third-world nations where ministers have little or no opportunity for formal training, due to their economic conditions or their remote location. The ministry is funded through donations from churches and individuals who support our vision. Another goal is sharing with local churches to stir greater interest in the support of Christian missions, both through prayer and through financial help.
An additional aspect of Garlock Ministries, Inc. is to produce books, tapes, CD’s, and other materials which contribute to the purpose of training leaders, and to fund the translation and production costs for making John’s book, Keys to Better Preaching, available to various language groups.
After the December 2003 death of John Garlock, the board appointed Ruthanne Garlock to assume the position of President.
